The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets’ Nest by Stieg Larsson

I am a late-comer to Stieg Larsson’s Millennium trilogy, but much better late than never. Have just finished The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets’ Nest. Many books are claimed to be page turners, but here is the real thing; I couldn’t put it down and just really had to get to the end…and no, I hadn’t forgotten about Niedermann. A brilliantly intriguing story with new plots and new characters neatly woven into dark deeds going on within Sweden’s Secret Police; at the same time answering questions left unanswered in the first two instalments. One of my favourite bits was the touché moment when Blomkvist sneaks the hand-held computer into Salander without a password, but with the cryptic message You’re the hacker, work it out/ Kalle B . Made me laugh, did that.

Larsson has created two wonderful characters in Mikeal Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander,  what crying shame he cannot reprise them. If, like me you missed these books first time round, put things right immediately and get a copy of the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, I guarantee you’ll follow on with the other two!
